Jack Kemp (Chair of the Board)
A Stafford Borough Councillor for more than 30 years and former Leader of the Council, Jack is currently a member of the Resources and Development Control Committees. A member of the Council’s Housing Committee for more than 20 years, he has an understanding of strategic housing issues at a national and local level.
Jack served on the West Midlands Local Government Association and Regional Assembly, and represented the West Midlands on a national Local Government Public Protection committee for many years. He has a vast amount of experience including budget management and audit commission inspection.
He was involved as a lay director in the Co-operative movement for over twenty five years and retired as a Director of the Midland Cooperative Society in 2005.
Jason Holder
An Assistant Director (Property Services) for HomeZone Living, a Registered Social Landlord set up through transfer, Jason has spent several years managing property maintenance services following 10 years as a Local Authority Architectural Technician.
A Committee Member and present Chair of the Chartered Institute of Housing West Midlands Region, he has experience in team management, programming, financial management, Best Value and Construction Procurement and asset management.
Sue Nicholls
Sue holds a diploma in law and advice and is the Director of Stafford and Stone Citizens Advice Bureau (Stafford Office)
She has knowledge, experience and skills in housing, training, finance, budgeting, personnel management, contract management, equal opportunities and business development.
She is a member of the Social Task Group of the Local Strategic Partnership and a member of the Community Legal Services Partnership.
Neil Tryner
The Head of Business Development for Midland Heart Housing Association, Neil has a Masters Degree in both Housing and Business Administration.
He has knowledge of the Supporting People framework, developing client specific support for key vulnerable groups, securing funding from external organisations and homelessness legislation.
Doris Potts
A retired administrative accountant, Doris has affiliate membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is a Fellow of the International Association of Book Keepers.
She is vice chair of the regional committee of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service.
Doris is Chair of the Sheltered Tenants’ Alliance and Glebelands Tenants’ Association. She is also a member of the State of the Sector Panel (Home Office).
Alan Perkins
A former national sales manager in the timber industry, Alan also has experience in marketing and staff management. Alan is a Stafford Borough Councillor, and is a member of the Planning and Regeneration Scrutiny, and the Development Control, Committees.
He has experience of scrutiny, staff management and marketing and is a member of both the Social and Environmental Task Groups of the Local Strategic Partnership. He is a Governor at Colwich Primary School.
Shirley Wheat
A retired nursery and play group worker, Shirley is the Chair of Blythe Lodge and Portland Close Residents’ Association.
A former chair of the Parent Teacher Association at Blythe Bridge High School, Shirley also sits on the Neighbours Editorial Panel and is Treasurer of the Sheltered Tenants’ Alliance. She is a Housing Scrutiny Committee reserve member – non voting tenant representative.

Ray Sutherland
Ray sits on the Stafford Boroughs Development Control and Public Appeals Committees and has experience of scrutiny in relation to performance (service and financial).
An independent financial advisor, Ray has communication/inter personal skills and experience in chairing meetings, public speaking and interviewing.
Chairman of the Derrington Social Club for eight years and Treasurer of Derrington Village Hall, Ray also has experience in running voluntary organisations.
Kevin Upton
Kevin is the Assistant Director, Finance for a Registered Social Landlord in Staffordshire, which was also set up through transfer. He is professionally qualified as an accountant and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
He has extensive knowledge both of the social housing sector and commercial organisations. With excellent analytical skills, Kevin has experience of the preparation of business plans and corporate restructures.
Mike Stevenson
Mike is Relationship Director for the Lloyds TSB Public & Community Sector team in the North West. He has over 27 years experience of banking and has specialised in the corporate arena for the past 17 years.
Over the last 5 years Mike has worked specifically with publicly funded organisations and in particular has developed an in depth knowledge of the many financial issues faced by the social housing sector. He brings a wealth of finance and banking experience, including development funding expertise.
Mike has lived in Stafford for many years and is professionally qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Frances Beatty MBE JP
Frances was elected onto Stafford Borough Council in May 2007, and nominated to the Board of Stafford and Rural Homes. She is a business sector and board member of the West Midlands Regional Assembly, a Council Member of West Midlands Business Council and a Governor of Harper Adams.
Her company, The Beatty Partnership Ltd, operates in the rural sector, Current contracts include: advising on the maze of government and private sector funding streams - and bid writing; business to business advice; innovative business training; media, communications and events management. The business undertakes gap management.

Barry Stamp
Barry has been involved in local politics since 1985, He is currently a Parish and Stafford Borough Councillor, and is leader of the Liberal Democrat Group Barry has served on various council committees, including Policy and Resources, Community Scrutiny Committee (as Chair) and has taen part in Best Value Tracking Groups.
Ruth Knott
Ruth was appointed a Tenant Board member in 2006 and was re-elected by tenant ballot in November 2007. She is a member of the Human Resources and Equalities Committee
She retired in 2006, having been a secretary in her working life. Ruth was a founder member of HERaTAGE (Highfields Tenants & Residents Association) and is secretary to the group. Through the group, she has become aware of many of the issues affecting tenants on the estate and has helped to securing funding for projects identified by tenants to improve the environment.

June was elected to the bord by tenants in the 2007 election, having been a member of the Tenant and Resident Federation for some time. She is treasurer of the Sheltered Alliance, and is chair of the Oxleathers Court Tenants Association. JuneI was previously a panel member for Solihull Social Services, which involved choosing adoptive parents and foster carers.

Hester Parsons
Hester is a Long Term Observer to our Board. She is a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor, qualifying in 1967. Hester worked in the UK before spending 7 years as a nurse in Zambia and Bahrain. On returning, she trained and qualified as a Health Visitor in 1980.
Hesters recent career has all been within the community, and in 1988 she became Director of Nursing with the Community Unit in North Staffordshire. In 1991, she moved to the Family Health Services Authority - responsible for services provided by GPs, Dentists, Community Pharmacists and Optometrists. In 2002 Hester was appointed Director of Primary and Community Services with Shropshire County Primary Care Trust, and stayed there until her retirement in 2006.
Hester has lived in the Borough Council area since coming to Staffordshire, initially in Stone then for the last 12 years in Woodseaves. She enjoys the varied aspects of the county and is particularly pleased to now be living close to fields and within walking distance of the canal.
