Promises 6
We will offer support to the Stafford Furniture Exchange, which can help new tenants and others to furnish their homes

How can I get involved?

There are a range of ways in which you can get involved and it’s not just a chance to tackle any housing issues. Getting involved with shaping and monitoring services provided by Stafford and Rural Homes can help with opportunities to develop general social activities, including those targeted to engage youngsters or older people in the community.   Click to see our Tenant Participation and Consultation Policy.

This “menu” of involvement options includes:

Tenant Board Membership

The Board is made up of five Council-nominated members, five independent people selected by the Board, and five tenants.

Tenant Board members can be tenants, licencees or members of their households. Leaseholders can only stand as Independent Board members.

Area Tenant and Resident Associations

There are 10 Tenant and Resident Associations representing tenants in our rural communities and estates. They are democratic organisations, which take up a range of issues on behalf of local residents. Some concentrate wholly on housing matters while others deal with community issues and run social events.

Informal Groups
It is not always practicable to set up a tenants’ association, for example where there are only a handful of properties. Stafford & Rural Homes will work with these tenants on issues of concern, and are investigating the setting up of a group to bring together tenants and residents from these areas.

Estate Walkabouts
You can join with us in a walk around you area to identify your local issues and ways to improve the quality of life for your community.  Click to see when the next Walkabout is in your area,

Focus Groups
These groups are short term and concentrate on particular issues. You can dip in and out to suit you.

Meetings and drop in sessions
These meetings are advertised and are held at times and venues to suit as many people as possible.

Surveys and questionnaires
If you want to get involved but can’t attend meetings, you may wish to take part in our programme of surveys which you can see on our developing "Talkingpoint" page.

To find out more, contact the Tenant Participation Team, which promotes the formation and development of tenant and resident groups. We encourage groups to establish their own needs and priorities by creating effective lines of communication between Stafford & Rural Homes and their tenants
