Estate Walkabouts

We want to help to build attractive neighbourhoods where people want to live. SARH have 10 Estate Standards.

  • Estates must be clear of fly tipping or dumped rubbish
  • Estates must be clear of graffiti
  • Grassed areas and shrubbed beds must be maintained in accordance with the Grounds Maintenance Contract
  • Footpaths and communal areas must not be a trip or slip hazard
  • Communal areas – lighting must be working, the area free from defects, dumped rubbish and graffiti
  • Estate fencing free from defects
  • Individual garden areas must be maintained to a satisfactory standard, be tidy and free of rubbish or dumped articles
  • Cars must be parked correctly, not on grassed areas and must not be repaired in communal parking areas
  • Untaxed cars must not be parked in communal parking areas
  • Street lighting must be working

Estate walkabouts are publicised in an annual programme and the involvement of local residents, particularly those on local residents groups, is encouraged.  We also invite our partners such as the Police and Borough Council.

Each walkabout will produce an Action List of identified issues or feedback sheet and who will deal with them. This list will be available to all attendees and local tenant and resident groups.  It will also be available on our website within 5 working days of the Estate walkabouts.

The Action Lists will be monitored to ensure problems are dealt with, and we will work with our partners to do this.
