Dateline 06/02/06 6:00pm: All parties signed on the dotted line and Stafford and Rural was born! The new Registered Social Landlord took over the ownership and Management of 5,600 homes and also site garages from Stafford Borough Council.
In a formal reception in the Civic Suite, Chief Executive Karen Armitage was presented with a giant key and keyring by Judith Dalgarno, the Leader of the Council, watched by many of the staff transferring to the new organisation. The transfer had been achieved following almost two and a half years of hard work by staff and tenants.
"This is a brand new start for us and our customers" Karen Armitage said. "We are an ambitious, caring organisation that wants to develop the very best services we can afford to deliver. We will work with our customers and partners to deliver the promises made to by the Council on our behalf, and we intend to go the ‘extra mile’ whenever possible."
"We are going to look at access to services and customer care as a top priority within the organisation, to ensure that all our customers can receive information from us, can take part in developing services with us, and comment on those things we do well. This approach will help us to learn about any areas we need to improve. Welcome to Stafford and Rural Homes!"
