Learn to surf at Stone Advice Shop!
In March 2007 Stafford and Rural Homes opened the Stone Advice Shop in Crown Court Yard, just off the High Street. This was one of the promises made to tenants when the housing stock was transferred from the Council in February 2006.
The shop has been a great success with tenants and customers who have visited to apply for housing, report repairs, obtain general housing advice, and much more!
Stafford & Rural Homes is keen to develop the services offered from the shop and is holding events over the coming year - each based on a different theme.
March’s theme is “Learn to surf”. Free computer training and access to internet facilities is on offer to customers. This is aimed especially at older people who can’t yet find their way around a computer but are keen to learn what computers are all about.
The event will be run in partnership with local store “IT Collective” and Lee Brooks from the store said “We are looking forward to helping Stafford and Rural Homes customers with their IT problems and queries”. Information about computer courses will also be available from Stafford College.
Light refreshments will be available, and customers can find out about other services for older people, including housing schemes for the over 60s who want independent living with reassurance, and the Lifeline Service for any resident who needs support available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Age Concern staff will also be offering their support and advice. at the event.
Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, said: "We are delighted to be holding these events at our Advice Shop in Stone to help deliver our commitment to customer-focused services. “Learn to surf” will be the first of a number of learning and awareness initiatives at the shop to benefit the people of Stone and the surrounding villages.”
Telephone 0800 111 4554 or visit the Stone Advice Shop to book on the event. The first 20 customers will get shopping vouchers to spend at IT Collective!
