More Anti-social Behaviour Success for Stafford and Rural Homes!

Stafford and Rural Homes has taken more firm action through the courts to help rid its estates of Anti-social Behaviour.

Christopher Reynolds was found to be in breach of an Injunction Order made on 12 September 2007. He was found in an area from which he was excluded under the order, and was fined £150 and ordered to pay within 14 days or face 7 days in prison. Reynolds was also ordered to pay Stafford and Rural Homes’ legal costs of £838 within 2 months of the hearing.

In a second case, possession of 10 Conway Drive, Doxey was granted to Stafford and Rural Homes following the convictions of joint tenants Anthony Pettigrew, for storing and supplying Class B drugs from the property, for which he received a 6 year prison sentence; his partner Donna Hales, for living off the Proceeds of Crime; and their son Aaron Pettigrew for witness intimidation.

In awarding possession of the property within 28 days and costs of £9295, the Court was satisfied that Donna Hales knew, not merely suspected, that Anthony Pettigrew was involved with supplying drugs. They had been living together for 25 years and, it was felt highly unlikely that Pettigrew could have stored and supplied drugs without her knowledge. Police evidence, not challenged at court, was that Hales attempted to dispose of the drugs during the police raid on the property. Hales therefore knew there were drugs in their home, where they were kept and how to get rid of them.

Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, said

“This is a fantastic outcome for the residents of Doxey and justifies our firm approach to dealing with anti-social behaviour on our estates. The awarding of significant costs against the defendants in both cases also sends a clear message that financial penalties following such behaviour may be severe. I am proud of the efforts of our Neighbourhood Services Team and our witnesses in bringing these successful cases to a successful end.”
