The proposed Chetwynd Credit Union Ltd has been given an official launch by the Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, Karen Armitage, the Convenor of the Credit Union Study Group Albert Hunt and Development Officer John Spriggs.
The launch heralds the forming of a Study Group to drive the project forward, and the launch of a pledge drive to get a measure of how many Stafford Borough residents and organisations would be prepared to be part of an exciting project serving the Borough.

The Chetwynd Credit Union Ltd will be able to offer convenient savings and low interest loans to it’s members who will own and manage the Credit Union themselves. The big benefits of the Credit Union are:

• It is an easy and convenient way to save and borrow
• It offers very low cost loans
• Insurance at no direct cost
• An easy way to learn new skills

Albert Hunt, the Convenor of the Study Group said, “The key word now is SUPPORT. To move forward, we need to be able to gauge the level of involvement of individuals and community organisations in the proposed Credit Union. I would urge all interested people and organisations to complete and return a pledge form, so that we keep everyone informed and involved.”

Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, added “The pledge drive is vitally important to the successful creation of a Credit Union for Stafford and the surrounding area. I would encourage as many people as possible, from all walks of life to sign up and get involved”
