The Government introduced "Supporting People" on 1 April 2003, as a new way of funding Housing Support Services. It applies to all sheltered housing and warden linked tenants, as well as many other people who need support to maintain independent living.
Housing Support Services are now funded separately under the control of a Supporting People Team. In Stafford this is administered by the County Council, which pays a grant to Stafford and Rural Homes for providing Housing Support Services.
