Stafford & Rural Homes will not charge a deposit to new tenants. If you had paid a deposit to the Council, it will either be refunded to you or, where you are in arrears, credited to your rent account

The Code of Conduct

Stafford and Rural Homes understands the importance of respecting the customer’s homes and belongings and has adopted the following code of practice:

Our contractors will comply with Stafford and Rural Homes’ commitment to equality and diversity. This includes;

• recognising and respecting the diverse needs of our customers
• working with us to ensure that employees receive equality and diversity training
• working to ensure that there is no direct or indirect discrimination in the way that customers and employees are treated
• reporting to Stafford and Rural Homes any instances of harassment
• complying with all relevant legislation

The person inspecting or carrying out repairs will:

• Treat you and your home with respect and be polite and courteous to you at all times
• Before entering your home introduce themselves and provide identification
• Wear a uniform with a badge bearing the contractors name and logo
• Ensure their vehicles display a sign that identifies the contractors company
• Check for special arrangements e.g. pets, children etc.
• Explain the nature of the work to be carried out and explain the safety issues
• Not enter your home if there are unsupervised young people, less than 18 years of age
• Meet, in full, all Health and Safety regulations and keep your home safe and not expose it to unnecessary risk
• The contractor will minimise inconvenience by working tidily and clearing away all unused materials and plant at the end of each working day
• Not use your electricity, gas, telephone or water unless they have been given permission
• Provide a temporary supply of heating and water when a permanent supply cannot be restored before the end of the working day
• Use clean dustsheets, thoroughly clean away all debris upon completion of works and vacuum where applicable
• Not smoke in your home, use radio equipment or leave tools and equipment where they are a hazard
• If scaffolding is necessary it will be erected safely and in a way that causes minimum inconvenience
• Respect your privacy and confidential information
