The Stafford Together Project

What is Stafford Together?

In January 2006 Stafford Borough Council announced that they were prepared to make the former Highfields Area Office on Auden Way available to the Primary Care Trust to open it as a community ‘healthy living centre’ facility in conjunction with partners and voluntary organisations in the area.

The Signpost Centre is now up and running following lots of work to find out which organisations wanted to work from the centre; some on a permanent basis and others who wanted to be more flexible.

Who is involved?

Here are just some of the people who are working from the Signpost Centre:

  • Stafford and Rural Homes;
  • Age Concern,
  • Stafford College,
  • The Youth Service,
  • Police Community Support Officers,
  • Citizens Advice Bureau;
  • The Carer’s Association,
  • Community Mental Health Team,
  • Health Visitors,
  • Homestart,
  • Midwives,
  • Alcohol and Drug Services,
  • Adult and Community Learning,
  • Connexions

Most of the work to get the centre off the ground was done by the Stafford Together group, made up of  representatives from the Borough and County Councils, Primary Care Trust, Police, Stafford and Rural Homes and Rising Brook Baptist Church.
The day to day running of the centre is managed by Rising Brook Baptist Church who have set up a charity called The Signpost Charity.

The centre will be funded by a number of agencies, all of whom are keen to ensure good quality services are delivered to local people in the area.
