BeConnected Befriender Volunteer

BeConnected_horizontal_basic

Many older people feel cut off from society. Even those with busy family and social lives can feel alone sometimes. BeConnected helps people to connect with others through regular FREE events, supported by volunteer Befrienders.

Run in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, the project aims to alleviate loneliness and improve lifestyles of vulnerable, elderly groups across Stafford Borough.

The BeConnected Befriender role will involve engaging with elderly people in Stafford Borough. Volunteers will help to reduce social isolation and loneliness in adults ages 65+, giving individuals an increased sense of community, belonging and independence, though a variety of 121 and group sessions. This may simply be a coffee and a natter, or attending local groups. Where appropriate, volunteers will signpost service users to relevant activities and services that will improve their confidence and mental wellbeing.

The role is flexible and we aim to work with all volunteers taking into account their lifestyle, skills and location. A BeConnected Project Worker will support volunteers to work in locations that suit them.

Whether you want to develop your skills, CV or simply have a passion and drive for helping others within your community this role could be for you!
