Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) is the largest social landlord in Stafford. Created on 6 February 2006 to own and manage the former council housing stock owned by Stafford Borough Council (SBC), we own and manage over 6,000 homes across Stafford and the surrounding area. We also deliver a number of local Independent Living schemes and employ almost 200.

SARH also delivers an award winning Telecare home safety and personal security system for the elderly and vulnerable.

In 2012 SARH set up a Trading Subsidiary Company Housing Worx, initially to deliver planned maintenance works to its properties. With a dedicated team, SARH customers benefit from greater choice and an improved service and SARH saves money on previous arrangements with surplus cash being invested back into affordable housing.

Regeneration activity

SARH is committed to delivering more than just housing but great places to live, work and grow with accessible services and opportunities for customers to learn, train and work.
This new way of working involves improving an entire local neighbourhood. The work to homes includes fitting new roofs, windows and doors and thermal cladding to homes as well as improving the appearance of outside areas by providing new parking areas, garden walls and fences.

Housing Worx

In 2012 SARH set up a Trading Subsidiary Company Housing Worx, initially to deliver planned maintenance works to its properties. This work was traditionally undertaken by external contractors, but by establishing Housing Worx, a dedicated team, SARH customers benefit from greater choice and an improved service and SARH saves money on previous arrangements with surplus cash being invested back into affordable housing.
Housing Worx has a board responsible for directing the business of the company, determining policy, setting objectives and monitoring performance.
