Arty resident’s paintings help to revamp Tithe Barn Court
A 63 year-old man’s love of painting has helped provide the final touches to refurbishments at the apartments where he lives.
Paintings by local artist Jim Valentine are now on display on the walls at Stafford and Rural Homes Tithe Barn Court Independent Living Apartments, on Tithe Barn Road.
“When I was asked if my paintings could be displayed at Tithe Barn Court I was delighted, it is lovely to think a hobby that has given me so much enjoyment will now hopefully be appreciated by others as well.
“Painting has been my favourite way to unwind for many years and I particularly enjoy getting my inspiration from beautiful settings in the countryside by taking photos and then coming back to paint them at home.”
Jim’s paintings completed a programme of improvements to Tithe Barn Court that also included repainting the walls, fitting new carpet in the communal areas, and installing new front doors to all the homes.
“Once the walls had been redecorated we needed some pictures to finish them off nicely. We wanted to find a local artist and thought it would be a fitting touch if we could use Jim’s artwork,” said Carol White, Independent Living Co-ordinator at Tithe Barn Court.
“Our aim at Tithe Barn Court is to provide our customers with a comfortable, safe and secure environment to live in and Jim’s paintings provide a wonderful finish to the improvements we’ve made here.”
The work carried out at Tithe Barn Court is part of a £1.58million improvement programme to SARH’s 15 Independent Living Apartments across the borough of Stafford.
