Charity begins at home
Stafford and Rural Homes held a Christmas raffle and collection instead of buying Christmas cards and raised more than £300 for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust, which provides respite and end-of-life care for children in Staffordshire and South Cheshire. The company also donated £200 following a recent staff survey.
Chris Belyavin, Fundraiser at the Donna Louise Trust, said “We are currently working towards achieving our goal of providing a 24/7 hospice service to children and families from across Staffordshire and South Cheshire, so this support is greatly appreciated so the support and kindness of staff at SARH is greatly appreciated.”
Staff at the not for profit housing organisation also took part in a sponsored dress down day and a midnight walk to raise £470 for Katharine House Hospice, which provides free support to people of all ages with terminal illnesses.
Collections were also made for Children in Need and Oxfam’s Pakistan Flood Appeal, which raised a total of £376.
Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of SARH, said: “SARH is always keen to support local charities whenever it can and I would like to thank all our staff who donated so generously to these worthy causes throughout past year.”
