Customers at Oxleathers enjoy table tennis

RESIDENTS at Oxleathers Court now have a new way to keep healthy and active thanks to one couple’s enjoyment of table tennis.

Earlier this year Elizabeth and Geoffrey Bennett, who live at the Stafford and Rural Homes independent living scheme, off Sundown Road, suggested a table would be a great addition to the communal complex.

“Table tennis is a hobby I’ve enjoyed all my life and Geoff and I still like to play at a local club so we asked if it might also be possible to have a table at Oxleathers,” said Elizabeth Bennett.

SARH thought it was a great idea and approached the Stafford Table Tennis society for assistance.  They were able to find a good quality second hand table with all the equipment required for sale which now is now proving a real hit at Oxleathers .

“We are really keen to promote healthy activity at all our independent living schemes so when Geoff and Elizabeth asked about table tennis at Oxleathers we were happy to look into it,” said Paul Buckley, Independent Living Co-ordinator for SARH.

“Oxleathers already has a range of activities including darts, a pool table and table football so this was a great addition.”

SARH has 15 Independent Living Schemes across the borough of Stafford providing  secure self contained apartments and bungalows for those over 55 with a range of extra support for those that need it.
