Double award for hard-working duo

When judges sat down to decide the winner of Stafford and Rural Homes’ annual SARH staff ambassador award, there were two outstanding contenders.

The work that Pam Smith and Debbie Williams do in helping customers was so impressive that judges couldn’t decide between the two – so they awarded them both the honour.

Pam and Debbie were presented with the Aspiring for Excellence Ambassador Award at SARH’s AGM on Thursday, September 15.

Community Involvement Officer Pam and Debbie, the Leasehold Officer, both worked with customers who had extensive work done to their homes as part of the Community Energy Saving Project in Highfields with British Gas. The project including cladding homes and installing other insulation and new, more energy efficient heating systems.

They made sure that customers were kept aware of what was happening and often worked long hours to deal with any issues and liaise with British Gas.

Pam said: “The project was challenging but Debbie and I both enjoyed going out and meeting the customers, building good relations with contractors, and working together to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible.”

Debbie said: “One of the nice things about this project is that Pam and I didn’t know each other that well before we started working on Highfields and now we’ve become good friends and we really enjoyed working together.”

Kevin Upton, chair of SARH, who presented Pam and Debbie with their awards, paid tribute to their ‘can do attitude’ and the way that they deliver an excellent customer service.

The annual Ambassador Award is nominated by SARH staff and customers and recognises those who have gone the extra mile to help customers.

SARH Chief Executive Karen Armitage praised their commitment to their work:  “We are proud to have the 2011 Ambassador awards presented to Pam and Debbie, two of our staff who live and breath the values of SARH in having an excellent work ethic, a caring attitude and a great supportive and enthusiastic love of the job they do.”
