Easter bonnets on parade at Tithe Barn Court

Easter bonnets on parade at Tithe Barn Court

Posted on 18th April 2017

Residents at a local Independent Living scheme for people aged over 55 have been getting into the holiday spirit by staging an Easter Bonnet parade and party.

During the event at Tithe Barn Court, Stafford, they also donated Easter Eggs for children at nearby Greenhall Nursery.

Prizes were handed out to the winners of a competition to find the best bonnet, with 89-year-old Gerty Perkins taking top honours for her brightly coloured headwear. Runners up included Avis Williams, Anita Thomson and Sheila Ashton.

Tithe Barn Court is one of 18 Independent Living Schemes managed by Stafford and Rural Homes for customers who enjoy the peace of mind of having support at hand if needed combined with the privacy of their own self-contained home.

Thanks to a strong sense of community spirit, customers regularly hold fundraising events for good causes and this year named Greenhall Nursery as their adopted charity for 2017. Recently they even donated a model train set for the children to enjoy.

Hayley Murphy, Independent Living Manager at SARH, who judged the bonnet competition, commented: “This event was typical of the spirit here at Tithe Barn Court; it is a great place to live where people support each other and the local community.

“I would like to say thank you and well done to all who took part in the event and judging on the day proved very difficult due to the quality of the bonnets on show!”
