Firefighters team up with SARH

Posted on 14th July 2009

Firefighters from Stafford have teamed up with Stafford and Rural Homes in a bid to save lives and ensure that all new tenants are free from the risk of fire in their homes.

This new partnership means that all new tenants will be offered a Home Fire Risk Check upon moving into their new homes. Firefighters from Blue Watch Stafford will be carrying out the first visit, which has been generated as a result of the new partnership, in the home of Miss Burns and Mr Betts next Monday.

The visit will include Firefighters fitting free smoke alarms and discussing important safety information such as escape routes and what to do upon discovering a fire.

Watch Manager, Gary Fox says, “We realise that moving into a new house is an exciting time, however it is also a great opportunity to ensure that you and your family are prepared in a case of an emergency. New homes present new challenges for example emergency escape routes are often different and smoke alarm maybe in different locations.

“We would urge anyone who has not yet had a Home Fire Risk Check to call our FREEPHONE number 0800 0241 999 and to get themselves booked in. This new partnership is a great way to reach members of the public when they first move into their new home, however the service is available for everyone. It doesn’t cost a thing, just 15 minutes you time which is nothing for something which could potentially save your life.”

Stafford and Rural Homes say,”We are extremely pleased to be working in this partnership with the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to help keep our customers stay safe within their homes”
