Free advice for job hunters

Job seekers in Stafford are being offered top tips to help them achieve work in 2012.

Stafford and Rural Homes has teamed up with Staffordshire County Council to offer a free course on effective job hunting.

“The start of a new year is a popular time for people looking to get back into work or for a change of career direction and we want to help people maximise their chances of successfully applying for a new job,” said Samina Arshad, SARH community involvement officer.

The session will take place on Wednesday, January 25, from 1pm to 3pm.  Help and advice will be provided on CV writing, finding unadvertised jobs, and identifying your own key skills.

The event also launches SARH’s latest programme of free courses run throughout the year as part of its Community Learning Programme.

SARH staff, customers, and partners run training courses at several community centres in many other locations around Stafford and the surrounding areas.

Courses include photography, parenting and accredited first aid.

Customers can download a copy of the training schedule from a dedicated learning programme page on the SARH website.

“Courses are free to attend and offer our customers the chance to improve their employment credentials, build on existing skills or even to just meet new friends,” added Samina.

Since the Community Learning Programme was launched in 2008, SARH has hosted more than 130 courses with more than 800 customers attending courses.

The sessions are open to anyone regardless of experience or ability.
