Free safety event for local business

Posted on 17th June 2015

A social landlord has joined forces with a wide range of organisations to help local businesses and their employees protect the health of workers.

As part of Health and Safety Week (June 15-19), Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) is hosting a free ‘drop in’ event at its headquarters in Parker Court, Staffordshire Technology Park tomorrow (Thursday, June 18).

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue, the British Red Cross, Nuffield Health and a number of other organisations will be taking part in the event, which is being delivered in partnership with the Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH).

From 12.00 noon to 4.30pm representatives from a wide range of agencies will be on hand to offer free help and legal advice on a range of health and safety issues for both businesses and their employees.

Jo Hough, Assistant Director of Organisational Development commented: “At SARH we’re committed to making Stafford and the surrounding area a better place to live and work, and local businesses have a key role to play in helping us achieve this goal.

“By staging this event, we will be raising awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace, and there will be plenty of practical advice on how to improve the working environment.

“As well as benefiting employees, this advice can provide a boost to the employer’s bottom line by reducing absenteeism through illness or accidents.

“It will also reduce the risk of them falling foul of legislation or being subjected to an injury claim.”
