Funding boost for Independent Living Scheme residents across Stafford
Residents across independent living schemes in Stafford are being given the chance to bid for a share of cash funding.
Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) has given the SARH Alliance, a group made up of representatives from its 19 Independent Living Schemes, £1,500 to distribute between them.
Representatives from each Independent Living Schemes can apply for a share of the funding by stating what they want to spend the money on and showing that their decision had been discussed and agreed upon by most of the residents.
Anna McLauchlan, Community Involvement Officer for SARH, said: “The idea is to encourage residents to put forward their ideas on how the money should be spent and hopefully promote a greater sense of ownership of their living environment.
“The money can be put towards anything so long as it is agreed upon, and will benefit, the majority of residents in that scheme – this could be anything from a day trip or something to improve communal areas where they live.”
The Alliance, which is made up of members from Blythe Bridge to Gnosall, meets once a month to discuss issues that impact residents and their environment and often welcome speakers from SARH and other agencies.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday, December 3.
