Gas engineer wins regional award for customer service
Alex McGregor, 48, from Stafford, who works in the Repairs First team for SARH, has received the Institute of Customer Service Customer Champion award for the West Midlands region.
“I was very proud to be nominated for this award let alone to be a winner. I am however not the only person at SARH assisting our customers to deal with gas safety and fuel poverty and without the support, encouragement and hard work of my work colleagues this achievement wouldn’t have been possible,” said Alex.
The award was announced as part of National Customer Services Week – held from October 3 to 9.
Alex was put forward for the award by SARH’s head of property maintenance Edward Malkin for his efforts to save energy and provide affordable heating for customers of SARH – particularly those on low incomes or vulnerable to the cold such as the elderly and very young.
“It is sometimes difficult to remember that Alex is employed as a gas engineer as he has become such a key player in all SARH initiatives to combat fuel poverty and help improve the lives of SARH customers,” said Edward Malkin.
Alex also sits on the Neighbourhoods First Group of SARH staff and customers who discuss ways to improve customer service. As a result Alex meets regularly with the SARH Money Management Advisor to provide help and advice in tackling issues raised by customers regarding high energy costs.
“Meeting the needs of our customers is the most important part of what we do at SARH. For a member of our staff to win a major regional award for his outstanding customer service is a very proud moment for SARH and testament to Alex’s dedication to his work,” said Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of SARH.
