Housing association on the look out for ‘good neighbours’

A STAFFORD housing association has begun its annual search for Stafford’s best neighbours.

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) is appealing for customers to get in touch with their nominations for this year’s ‘Good Neighbour Award’.

The idea is to recognise people in the community that go above and beyond the call of duty to help make life easier for others.

Last year’s award was won by Irene Rice, 86, of Crispin Close.

Irene was put forward for the award by her neighbour Dawn Philips for her efforts to help local residents and her kindness to everyone she meets.

“Our good neighbour award is a fantastic opportunity to thank our customers who give so much of their time to help other in the community,” said Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes.

“Last year we picked a very worthy winner and I’m hoping we can do the same again in 2013, so if you know someone who makes a difference in your community we want to hear about it.”

Send details of your nomination and the reasons why you think they deserve the recognition to Karen Marshall at SARH’s headquarters at Parker Court, Staffordshire Technology Park, Stafford or email

If you live in an Independent Living Scheme give the details to your Independent Living Co-ordinator.

Nominations for the award need to be in by Friday, August 16.

The winner will be announced at SARH’s Annual general Meeting on Thursday, September 19.
