Local housing provider celebrates being a ‘BEST’ place to work

Stafford’s leading provider of affordable homes Stafford and Rural Homes, (SARH) has been named as the UK’s best housing association to work for in a prestigious list of the top not-for-profit companies.

Employees at SARH have been celebrating their success in the Sunday Times BEST 100 Not for Profit Companies to work for list, which has seen them ranked second overall and ahead of many household names and well-known national charities.

The organisation’s Chief Executive, Karen Armitage, invited staff to celebrate a remarkable achievement for a medium-sized organisation with its roots firmly in the communities it serves.

“A commitment to encouraging and supporting our employees to ‘Be the BEST’ that they can be is at the heart of our organisation,” Karen explained. “To provide the best possible service to customers we need the very best employees and we’re delighted that this approach is reflected in the Sunday Times list.”

The companies featured in the Times Best 100 Not for Profit Companies to Work For were announced at a recent event in London that followed news that SARH had also secured a ‘Three Star, Extraordinary’ accreditation.

As part of the accreditation process, SARH employees were asked to take part in a survey and responded to questions on a range of topics, including the company’s leadership and their own wellbeing, personal growth, pay and benefits.

“90 per cent of staff said SARH has inspirational leadership, and 96 per cent said they were proud to work for the organisation,” Karen said. “In fact the organisation scored very highly in all areas of the survey, which is reflected in our new position on this year’s list.

“We’ll never be complacent though and will continue to strive to invest in our employees so they can deliver even more great results for our customers and the communities we serve,” she added.
