Update from the Chief Executive

Posted on 16th June 2017

Karen Armitage, Chief Executive, Stafford and Rural Homes said:
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by the fire at Grenfell Tower in London. Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) wishes to assure all customers and residents of Pennycrofts and other high rise SARH accommodation that strict fire safety regulations and safeguards are in place to stop a fire spreading should one ever break out in one of our blocks.

SARH takes our responsibilities concerning fire safety very seriously and robust fire safety measures are in place and regular fire safety checks are carried out.

SARH homes have fire doors fitted to individual flats and throughout communal spaces and several SARH flat blocks have dry risers, which are pipes used by the fire service to distribute water to multiple levels of a building, while flats have smoke and heat detectors.

All refurbishments that SARH delivers are in-line with current fire safety legislation as a minimum. Once we know the full details of how the fire in Grenfell Tower spread so quickly, SARH will evaluate and where possible implement any additional measures highlighted to prevent anything similar happening in Stafford.

If SARH customers have any concerns they should contact SARH on 0800 111 4554 which is a 24 hour, seven days a week service.”
