New job club opens up employment opportunities
A PROJECT helping unemployed people in Stafford to find work has been extended.
A new fortnightly Job Club has been set up by Stafford and Rural Homes and the unemployment support charity Stafford Works at Shire Hall library.
The club has been set up with support from Stafford Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and Job Centre Plus.
“We have a lot of good contacts in the business community who are either recruiting at the moment or able to lend some good advice,” said James Nixon, from Stafford Works, who is helping to run the club.
“The new work club came about from the partner organisations working together on a community project in Penkside. However once the County Council library service offered its facilities it was decided to launch the new job club to all of the public in Stafford.”
The club gives help and advice on writing a strong CV, job hunting and interview skills.
The sessions also have regular guest speakers including members of the chamber of commerce, volunteers from charitable organisations and local entrepreneurs. It also provides a relaxed environment for people to share job hunting experiences.
The job club takes place every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm.
Stafford Works and SARH have been running a similar weekly job club from the Community Resource Centre at Greyfriars throughout the year.
