SARH – a truly ‘BEST COMPANY’
Stafford and Rural Homes is very proud to announce that it has been listed 20th out of 100 Best Companies in the Times Not-for-Profit Best Companies 2014.
The Times says of SARH:
A truly local housing association, Stafford and Rural Homes owns more than 5,600 properties within the borough of Stafford, and it is the largest provider of rented homes in the district. As well as providing affordable housing, the association offers advice and support to customers. It was founded in 2006 following the transfer of homes from Stafford borough council, and has its headquarters in the town, though its people are based in 21 sites in total. The social landlord makes its debut in our list this year.
The workforce is unified in its admiration for chief executive Karen Armitage, who meets all new recruits as soon as they join. Armitage conducts weekly “thoughts for the day” that focus on important short-term news. People consider her an inspirational leader (an 86% positive score, betterd by just four small organisations on our list.) Staff have faith in her too (86% again, ranking seventh.)
There is a buzz in teams (77%), colleagues go out of their way to help (84%) and charitable activities are encouraged (92%) – all these measures ranking ninth.
