SARH asks customers to spread Christmas spirit to their neighbours

Although the Christmas holiday is traditionally a time for family and friends, Stafford and Rural Homes is urging customers to think about those living close by who might not have anyone to think about them.

Karen Armitage, SARH chief executive, said: “Families are becoming geographically separated so vulnerable people may not have anyone to care for them. We are asking people to keep an eye on neighbours, who are elderly or vulnerable.

“At the same time we would urge all our customers to be vigilant and not let strangers into their homes. There are bogus callers around who unfortunately can prey on vulnerable people.

“Neighbours can be valuable support particularly at holiday times. This is a celebratory time for most people but it can be difficult and lonely for others.”

SARH offices will close from 3.30pm on Friday 24 December 2010 and will re open on Tuesday 4 January 2011. During the holiday period customers who need to contact SARH with emergencies can call 0800 111 4554.
