SARH CEO named as Most People-Focused
A prestigious magazine has named the Chief Executive of a Stafford-based housing association as the most people-focused CEO working in the not-for-profit sector.
Karen Armitage from Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) was recognised at the HR Excellence Awards 2015, organised by HR Magazine, the leading trade publication for human resources professionals.
On scooping the honours in the category for most people-focused CEO: public and not-for-profit sector, supported by Best Companies, Karen said she was “chuffed to bits”.
“I’m absolutely amazed and thrilled at the award because we are a lovely company and we have great people working for us,” she explained.
“I just feel really proud of everyone at SARH. We have a lovely culture, it’s a great place and people love working here.”
Karen was recognised for the way she gives her employees a voice and her commitment to engagement, with one judge praising her “amazing leadership”.
Judges were also impressed with her submission to the judging panel that read: “I was born to work in public service. The commitment to people is best exampled in companies like SARH where staff, customers and board members work together to create great places to live, to work and to grow.
“SARH is a warm, caring place where people can deliver and grow. The way this is achieved is by us all pulling together, overcoming difficulties and meeting challenges head on as a team. I am proud of my staff in this company and the work we do together.”
The latest accolade follows news earlier this year that SARH had been listed at number 10 in the latest Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not-for-Profit Organisations to Work.
