Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) continues to invest in upgrading its housing stock.
SARH is committed to improving the kitchen in your home using high quality materials, to a well-designed and safe high standard. This work is delivered by Housing Worx, SARH subsidiary.
If we are planning to carry out any work on your home, we will write to you telling you what work we will be doing and when it will happen.
You will receive a letter from Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) notifying you that your home is in this year’s programme for a kitchen replacement.
Housing Worx will then contact you to arrange a survey.
During the kitchen survey, the designer checks for unusual features in your kitchen, consults you on your requirements, and develops a kitchen design that you and the surveyor are happy with.
You have a choice of units, worktops, wall tiles and vinyl flooring and you will be given a copy of the design and a note of the choices you make.
Please note that it is not possible to change the kitchen design once it has been ordered.
A standard kitchen will normally have a cooker, fridge and washing machine space. If you would like a dishwasher or tumble drier space in your new kitchen, let the surveyor know so these features can be designed into your kitchen, if there is sufficient space.
A minimum of 3 double sockets will be installed above the worktops. Additional sockets will be fitted below the worktops for your major appliances, with isolator switches above the worktop.
An extractor fan (where possible) and a new fluorescent light fitting and light switch will also be installed.
It is very important that you keep the survey appointment. If you can not make the date then please contact us as soon as possible.
Housing Worx will contact you to arrange a start date for the work to take place.
The Housing Worx Team will let you know when you will need to empty your kitchen cupboards, remove everything from the worktops and empty the room of all your belongings except: the washing machine, the cooker, the fridge and any other large electrical items.
PLEASE NOTE that electricity and water will need to be turned off during the installation for a very short time.
Whilst the work is in progress it is advisable to keep pets and children away from the kitchen.
Be aware of potential trip hazards and do not touch any materials or power tools, sealants or glues.
The kitchen installation is planned for a specific date and therefore it is very important that you allow access to your home on the day that you agreed with Housing Worx.
The work will normally take no more than 6 working days to complete depending on the size of kitchen. The team starts at approx. 8am and finishes around 5pm each day.
We recognise that having your old kitchen removed and a new kitchen installed can cause disruption to family life. We will make every effort to keep the disruption to a minimum.
An electrician will install any new sockets, an extractor fan where possible, a new fluorescent light fitting and light switch.
A kitchen installer will then remove the old kitchen and prepare the room for the installation of the new kitchen.
The installer will fit the kitchen with all necessary pipework, fit splash backs or tiles depending on your choice and completely decorate the kitchen.
The installer will normally take no more than 5 days to install the kitchen.
The last stage will be the laying of a new vinyl cushioned floor which will take a few hours to complete.
When all the work is complete, the Housing Worx surveyor will visit you to ensure you are happy, and to check that the work is completed to a high standard.
