SARH hits the road for Telecare roadshow
A mobile tour is offering residents across Stafford borough and areas of South Staffordshire a free health check this summer.
Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) Telecare team is bringing a mobile Telecare and health tour to venues across the region offering advice about how Assistive Technology could help residents remain independent in their own home for longer; the team will also be offering blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) tests from its mobile office and signpost customers to relevant organisations if results are above or below recommended values.
“These events are all about getting out into the community and creating a relaxed environment where people can come and talk to us for friendly adviceabout healthy lifestyles,” said Sarah Wyke, Head of Independent Living and Customer Services.
There will also be an opportunity for people to give their views on Conversation Staffordshire the recently developed Living Well in Staffordshire strategy for improving health and well being services in the county.
Further information on the consultation is also available from SARH’s Customer Resource Centre, at 56 Greyfriars, Stafford, or online at www.engagingcommunitiesstaffordshire.co.uk.
“We’re urging all of our customers to take part in this consultation as it will help to shape how the health services they receive will be delivered in the future,” said Sarah Wyke.
SARH Telecare Coordinators will also offer advice on how Telecare and Assistive Technology could help you or a family member remain independent within their own home if additional support is required.
Telecare is a personal alarm system that is linked to a 24-hour Customer Call Centre, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
“Telecare offers a technical solution for reassurance and complete peace of mind that help is available 24 hours a day either at the touch of button or via specialist sensors,” said Liz Lewis, You First Telecare Manager for SARH. “We can also offer advice on cost effective simple gadgets to make daily tasks around the home easier.”
The tour will also visit the following locations in the coming weeks:
August 14 – Co-Operative store, on Bakers Way, Codsall
August 20 – Burton Square, Burton Manor
August 27 – Coven Court, Coven
August 29 – Brookhouse Road, Gnosall.
All of these events will take place from 11am to 2pm. Further events are also planned for September; full details are available on SARH’s website www.sarh.co.uk.
