SARH launches annual Garden Competition
Green-fingered enthusiasts are being encouraged to put their gardens on show in Stafford and Rural Homes’ annual Garden Competition.
Whether you have a greenhouse full of grub, or pansies to be proud of, SARH is appealing to customers to get involved in this year’s event, now in its third year.
“The garden competition is our chance to thank you for the great care and effort you take creating wonderful gardens and helping to make local communities a brighter and more attractive place to live,” says Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH).
Categories include best front garden, best back garden, best communal garden, best hanging basket, container or window box, best vegetable/allotment garden and best communal border.
There’s also a new prize for 2013 – young gardener of the year – which is open to anyone under the age of 18 who submits an entry to any of the categories.
Winners will receive a trophy and a B&Q gift voucher. Runners-up will also receive a gift voucher and all participants will receive a pack of flower bulbs.
Herbert Murfin, of The Uplands, in Great Haywood, was last year’s winner of best front garden.
“The presentation ceremony was a lovely event and we had a brilliant afternoon,” said Herbert.
Entry forms are available on the ‘In the Community’ section of the SARH website https://www.sarh.co.uk/garden-comp or by phoning Sandra Shipperley on 01785 216654.
The closing date for entries is Friday, 28 June, with judging in July. Presentations will then take place in August.
