Stafford customers get a taste of the globe

Posted on 23rd August 2013

TASTY treats from around the world were dished up in a practical cooking session for families run by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH).

From children aged 10 to people in their 60’s customers from across Stafford borough made a range of dishes including pizza, paella and Thai green curry under the expert guidance of Jason Smith, a chef-lecturer from Stafford College.

“The session offered the chance to try a wide range of different flavours and see how people across the world maintain a healthy and balanced diet,” said Christine Cartwright, Community Involvement Officer for SARH.

Stafford Borough Council also helped to deliver the session through funding made available for healthy eating workshops.

The event was organised as part of SARH’s Community Learning Programme, which includes over 50 free sessions delivered across Stafford Borough throughout the year to help people into employment, improve health and wellbeing, encourage people to meet others or pick up a new skill or hobby.

Other courses still available this year range from basic plumbing and glass painting to CV writing and parenting skills.

You can also find the Community Learning Programme on Facebook by searching ‘Community Learning Programme’.
