Steve is a star attraction

He’s Stafford and Rural Homes answer to Professor Brian Cox! Astronomy enthusiast Steve Latham is reaching for the stars in the quest for all things stellar.

SARH’s Customer Service Centre Team Leader is running ‘A Down to Earth Guide to Astronomy for Beginners’ session in Stafford, on April 26.

The session is being run through SARH’s Community Learning Programme of free sessions for local people in Stafford Borough.

In his spare time, Steve can be found helping out Walton Priory Middle School, in Stone, with their observatory. It was opened earlier this year but one of the teachers who helped buy the high-powered telescope has since left the school.

Says Steve: “It seemed like a wonderful opportunity to help out the school and get young people enthused about stargazing.”

Steve also has a Facebook page ‘Universal Wonders’ about which stars and planets can be seen at any given time.

You can book on to the beginners session which will cover the life of a star and an introduction to the solar system, by phoning the community involvement team on 0800 111 4554 or email
