SARH Customers provides boost for nursery
Youngsters at a Stafford nursery are one step closer to funding new outdoor play equipment thanks to the efforts of Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) customers.
An Elvis impersonator was one of the special guests during a series of fundraising events at a SARH ‘You First’ Independent Living Scheme, that have raised £1,000 for nearby Greenhall Nursery.
In recent years residents have built up close links with the nursery which is now benefiting from the many fun events arranged by SARH customers.
Sarah Oakden, Independent Living Co-ordinator, explained: “There’s always something going on here, and over Christmas residents raised more than £500 with raffles during coffee mornings, parties and entertainment evenings featuring local artists.
“This total has been boosted by generous donations and we’re all delighted that the money will be used to help give youngsters the best possible start in life.”
Greenhall Nursery supports youngsters with a range of disabilities and head teacher Joanne di Castiglione says the money will be used to pay for an outdoor playhouse.
“It’s important for the children to have opportunities to learn outside and the playhouse will help to support this,” she said. “We’re really grateful for this generous support and a huge thank you goes to all involved.”
